What is specialty coffee?

A new buzzword, specialty coffee is nevertheless a new trend in the world of coffee, which aims to upgrade coffee beans. Far from the quality standards of coffee manufacturers, specialty coffee aims to be radically different in its approach, both in terms of quality, society and the environment. A specialty coffee is defined by 4 main criteria:

• It must exceed 80 points (According to the criteria of the Specialty Coffee Association)G
• Traceability guarantee
• Be free from major defects
• Ensuring superior quality throughout the coffee processing chain: growing, drying, roasting, etc.

Why drink specialty coffee?

A specialty coffee is a coffee with an incredible aromatic richness, we can easily compare it to the grand cru in wine. Today, industrial coffee is a very low quality coffee bean, roasted very dark to hide the defects. What comes out of it: a burnt coffee with a taste as unpleasant as it is standardized. But coffee is a fruit, and specialty coffee tries to restore nobility to it. In addition, specialty coffee allows to pay the peasant producers correctly so that they can live from their work. Quite the opposite of industrial coffee, which transfers almost all of the margin to the industrialist.
